I am a Naziphile...
I don't care if it is not a word...Consider it invented. I guess you could say that I am intrigued by the things which scare me the most. Correction...Which strike fear into me the most. But there is also a romantic element that the Nazis hold for me. I don't know what it is...I guess there is something about the Nazi couture, if you will. Fascist fashion. The paraphenelia...Combined with the Noir ambience of the settings in which they lived...At least as is depicted in the films I have seen...Perhaps it is tied to the inherent BDSM aspect of World War II fashion. Or maybe I have a little bit of the Stockholm Syndrome.
I was researching World War II yesterday...Particularly the Concentration Camps...Auschwitz and Birkenau particularly, if I remember correctly...
I read about how eugenics was not alien to the world pre- World War I and II...And certainly not to America. During town fairs, which showcased fruits, vegetables, and other goods which all competed to be crowned "The best", were staged "Baby shows". These shows were supposed to judge their contestants solely on their health, as opposed to their looks. In the previous century...The 18th century, there were "pretty baby shows" which judged babies solely on their appearances...However, It turns out that their 19th century, and early 1900s, counterparts were not much different. In fact, there were some cases of doctors ignoring signs of serious health problems in the babies they examined in favor of their superficial qualities.
Prisoners in World War II were injected with gasoline, and other harmful substances, in an effort to see how they would react to it.
There was also something called the "Gas Van". Prisoners would be rounded up and taken to certain location. They would be forced through a series of rooms, and then driven down a flight of stairs...Up another final stairs, and into a final room, which was dark and windowless. This room was actually the back of a van. They would then be gassed to death...Their bodies driven to an isolated location, such as a clearing in a forest, and dumped.

One of the best films of all time about Nazis (As opposed to being about World War II or The Holocaust)...Even if it is a romantic version of a horrific point in time, as it has often been called...Is The Night Porter.
It is about the latent attraction between an ex-Prisoner(Charlotte Rampling), who survived the Concentration Camps, and the Nazi Officer whom she loved. Their relationship is sort of...Akin to a BDSM relationship...Although the roles often switch. Compared to the standard for "Normal" relationships...Their relationship is dysfunctional... They take the saying, "Pain and pleasure" to the extremes, inflicting harm upon themselves, and each other...As a means to express their love... Which does not seem to be love at all but some sort of psychosis...But it is The Stockholm Syndrome of Rampling's character which makes the movie what it is...And that is an original psychological thriller.
